Just Make Something

11″ x 14″ oil pastel on paper. Hand-signed and dated.

I was getting some photos taken in my studio and my fabulous photographer, Aous Poules, wanted to take some shots of my process. I grabbed my pastels and paper and just started drawing some lines. It was quick and messy work. I didn’t think much of it, until Aous shared that he was impressed that I created that from nothing in such a short time. This piece is such a strong reminder for me that I am my own greatest critic and good work neither has to be complicated nor resemble anything that already exists in the world. Another lesson in enjoying the process and being surprised by the result.
