California Poppy

5″ x 8″ acrylic on paper. Hand-signed and dated.

I appear to have fallen in love with California Poppies. I find the rolling hills of flaming orange just so breathtaking. I love painting flowers, and I always look for reference photos that have a lot of variation in lighting, contrast, and colour, so that I have some dimension to work with and embellish with my own personal flair so I’m not just replicating the original image.
