Artemis

36″ x 48″ acrylic on canvas. Hand signed and dated on the back.

The duality of Artemis: fierce huntress and gentle healer. As the Greek goddess of the hunt, wilderness, and nature, she stands sovereign in the untamed landscape, eyes sharp with instinct and clarity. Yet, woven into her strength is deep compassion. Firstborn of Leto, Artemis is said to have aided in the birth of her twin, Apollo, and thus became a sacred protector of childbirth and young life.

Her presence embodies both wild independence and nurturing grace. Vibrant light spills across her face, reflecting her connection to the vibrant rhythm of nature’s cycles. She is at once the force that runs with the wolves and the soft whisper that soothes a newborn. A patron of thresholds between life and death, child and adult, wild and civilized. Artemis reminds us of the strength in stillness, and the healing held within our most instinctual selves.
