Vivàce

9″ x 12″ ink on paper. Hand-signed and dated.

Vivàce is an Italian word that means “full of life”, most commonly used as a musical term to indicate a piece should be played upbeat and energetically.

My best friend once called told me that I’m vibrant and full of life. That complement stuck with me for years, empowering me to step into my colourful and expressive nature. So much so that I decided to get “VIVACE” as my first tattoo. I chose the Italian as a nod to my classical music background, and it serves as a daily reminder to live vibrantly.

This is where I discovered my love for drawing flowing lines with no destination in mind. What started as just one long fluid line turned into an intricate, energetic and dynamic image. Initially I planned to stop at the black line drawing, but then it looked like a colouring page and I felt inspired to bring in my favourite colour palette and once again, it brought the image to life in a vibrant new way.
